Gabriele Manca studied piano with Bruno Canino and composition with Giacomo Manzoni at the Conservatorio in Milan, where he graduated with distinction.

In 1985 he was the prize winner of the “neue generation in Europa” competition organized by the WDR-Köln, the Biennale-Venezia and Festival d’Automne-Paris.

In 2000 he won the Japan Foundation Uchida Fellowship.

In 2001 he carried out the soundtrack for “Rokurobyoe”, a movie by the japanese Chiseko Tanaka.

He gave a number of workshops and lectures at the Melbourne University, Irino Foundation, Senzoku University, Toho Gakuen University, Theatre Winter, Tokyo College of Music and at the Italian Institute of Culture in Tokyo, Pontificia Universidad de Chile

He teach composition at the Conservatorio “Giuseppe Verdi” in Milan.

In November 2008, a recording was released of both his volumes of Piano Etudes , “Studi Meccanici” and “Etudes d’un ticqueur” “by Stradivarius.
